Geia sas/hello! I know I haven't written in awhile but alot has happened. First, I now have my own business
> and I'm very excited about it. I'm a Passion Parties consultant.
> Basically, while I work with Passion Parties, I'm an independent
> contractor. I sell adult products such as oils, , candles, lotions, ,
> lubricants and toys. Best of all, I get rewards for what I do, not
> only through Passion Parties but through the happiness of my
> customers. As someone who has had alot of love and support throughout
> my life, I'd really like to give back to others in a positive and
> meaningful way. If I can get one woman or man to say "I love myself,
> I'm beautiful, I'm worth it," then I've done my personal job. And if
> I can get them to buy along the way, all the better! I sell mostly
> through fun and educational parties but I also have a website at
> http://tiffany.yourpassionconsultant.com
> . My goal is to make everyone comfortable. So whether you just want
> something sweet and relaxing like an oil or a candle, whether it's
> your first time buying a toy or whether you're an expert, you're sure
> to leave smiling. Note that you must be over 18 to attend parties or to purchase from my site.

Now that
> I've done the training etc, I feel confident that I'll be able to get
> this thing off the ground. This weekend, I'm off to something called
> Passion Power, where we all get together and learn tips and tricks for
> selling and how to book parties etc. Plus, I've already started
> making friends. Oh, and here's the topper! I'm the second totally
> blind person in the company. The first is my sponsor and friend.
> *smile*

In nonwork-related news, I'm moving downstairs! We put in a bedroom
> and a bathroom and so I'm getting a new apartment. They put in a new
> kitchen here so the downstairs is all mine except for once a week when
> they need to wash the clothes. So yay! I'm Ms. Independent again! And I'll also be popping in and out of here more often. I missed you guys!

Congratulations! I hope it all goes well for ya. I'll have to take a look at the website.

congrats, Tif! I know you're especially happy about the independence part of your news, and so am I. I know how great it feels to have reached that point, so congrats once again!

Well Don the dildo and pamela the pocket pussy may not judge you but I sure do. How about trying to get something that'd actually contributes to society in a meaningful way? There's no need to show your case of toys the internet will let you view all of those from multiple angles. If your so smart why not get a job that requires more skill then switching AA or DD battarys depending on how stretched out the pussy or anus is?

FYI, it's a very promising business and you can make alot of money doing it. And plus, I enjoy it. As for positivity, maybe you don't think feeling good about your body, being able to express yourself in a relationship, or not being afraid to reach your dreams doesn't matter. I bet you don't cause you're a closed-minded moron who's full of hate for yourself and the world around you, especially anyone who wants to better their own life and the lives of others. And if this makes me happy besides making good money, why the hell should I quit? You know, I always say that we try to find something for every customer, something that'll make everyone feel comfortable. But I don't think there's any product on Earth for you! Maybe in death. At least, that would make the rest of us comfortable.

Wow! Well, this has been an interesting conversation! I understand that you like the business, but I hope you've considered all the factors. I went to one of these "smut parties" one time, and the consultant basically read the descriptions of the products from the catalog. Are you prepared to fill orders, at these parties, where there might be a lot of paperwork? Perhaps with your website, that'll make things easier. Also, I know you mentioned in another post that you have a Sociology degree. While I wish you success, I am always a bit discouraged at blind people who remain somewhat invisible to the general public. I've read on the job forum how many are seeking online employment. I'm in favor of using one's strengths, but how are sighted people going to know how capable we are if we don't get out there. Just this week I had two job interviews. I know everyone says that you can make a lot of money doing this type of consulting thing, but most of the people who do it have one thing we don't a driver's license. Sorry, but I knew a blind Mary Kay consultant who just couldn't hack it cause she couldn't see the colors of the makeup. I know this is a different type of business, but I just hope you've worked out all the possible scenarios that could pop up (no pun intended there). Do you feel comfortable navigating strangers' houses, can you find reliable transportation? Will you be able to deliver orders? Most of the other people I know who've done this type of thing also have other jobs. If they don't, they have children and can't hold down a full-time job. Just a few things to think about.

Consider finding a way to make me a happy customer a professional development challenge.

Tiffany,
I don't know why all these people are trashing your business. I personally wouldn't want to do it, but good luck to you. There'll be challenges to work out, but I'm sure you can figure out how to handle them.
As far as the driving part goes, you have to think outside the box. A blind stockbroker years ago lived in the middle of Iowa with no transportation and began hitchhiking to work on a daily basis. He met many new clients this way.
I'm not saying hitchhiking is the way to go today, but just think outside the box. There are lots of novel ways to reach your goals and solve problems.
Have you tried promoting your site on craigslist?
You may also want ot hang flyers on bulletin boards in malls, grocery stores, etc. They're usually free and some flyers would be cheap to print.
Good luck.

To blw1978. Thanks for the genuine concern. You've brought up a few very interesting and important points, so I'll try and answer each. Let me say first that I absolutely won't be reading descriptions from the cataluge. We're encouraged to use our own personalities and come up with creative ways to describe the products. So long as it's tasteful, you can pretty much say anything. Transportation is the one sticking point for me. I'll probably either carpool, take a cab, or in the very worst case sanario, take paratransit. Plus, the more I sell, the more bonuses I get. They could potentially pay $400 for transportation, so I might even get a driver. Then, there's the possibility of recruiting consultants and having them bring me while they're in training. I also plan on utilising phone and video conferencing for a novel way to have parties so that people out of state can join. Thankfully, I don't have to ship anything. The company takes care of that through drop shipping. I'm not planning on taking any kind of academic post with my degree in Sociology, but I do plan on making myself visible. There's alot of recognition in the company and many milestones that I can reach. Plus, I'm really planning on trying to get more blind people involved in this. I think that it's an excellent opportunity to build self-worth, to own our own businesses and to empower us as independent people. There are three of us so far, including my sponsor, who's a total like me. So it can be done. As for forms, I think I'm gonna have the customers fill them out or fill out a blank client card, just so that they don't lose track of the items. But in the ordering room, I'll have them read me what they want, or if they don't know, I'll help them figure it out. Either way, it'll all go into my computer and I'll place the orders through the website, the same as everyone else. The great thing about Passion Parties is that everything is layed out for you and there's constant support from everyone. They're all so creative that if I needed help with something, I'm sure something could be worked out. I'm actually creating a group on Google called Blind_Passion, for the blind and visually-impaired members of Passion Parties to get together to discuss all of these things. I do have another part-time job that I'm using as a back-up to buy inventory etc for this one, but I do intend on quitting as soon as this business really gets off the ground.

To jamesk. thanks for the encouragement. I do indeed post on Craigslist, though that in itself is a challenge, with the horrible captcha. Anyway, thanks for the idea of flyers. I was thinking of dropping off some cards etc in places like beauty parlours, gyms, nail salons, grocery stores, bridal shops, maybe even bars. I have to see what works out the best. Anyway, I'll be holding a phone conference hopefully some time this week, so I'll keep you all posted. *smile*
